Four Pieces, One Polished Look - $14.96 in thrifted finds.
How a few City Thrift finds came together—and how AI helped me visualize the finished outfit.
I recently visited City Thrift in the Paxon area and challenged myself to look beyond the individual pieces on the racks. I wanted to find items that could work together, mix into my existing wardrobe, and create outfits that felt polished without costing a ton of cash.
By the time I finished shopping, I had spent less than $200 ($195.02 to be exact) and brought home enough pieces to create 10 outfits. This is the first.
Before we get into the clothes, I want to be transparent about the imagery. I used AI to style these thrifted pieces on a model, allowing me to visualize and share the complete outfit exactly as I imagined it.
Although the image is AI-generated, every featured piece is a real item I personally found at City Thrift. Seeing the full look come together made me appreciate these finds even more—and reminded me just how much personal style can be created on a thoughtful budget. Let's take a look at what I found!
The Statement Blouse: $5.49
The starting point was this white button-front shirt with the oversized black floral pattern. It has enough personality to carry the outfit, but the black-and-white color palette keeps it easy to style.
The fuller sleeves add shape and make it feel more special than a basic blouse. Because the print is bold, I knew the rest of the outfit needed to support it instead of competing with it.
The Black Pants: $4.49
The black pants ground the entire look. Their clean, tailored shape balances the volume of the shirt and gives the outfit a polished foundation. Black pants are one of those pieces that may not seem exciting on the hanger, but the right pair can do a lot of work in a wardrobe. These can easily be restyled with sweaters, blazers, fitted tops, and more casual pieces later.
The Finishing Pieces
The slim black belt defines the waist and helps the shirt and pants feel like one complete look. Its gold buckle also adds a small detail that keeps the outfit from feeling too plain. - $0.99
I chose the brown suede shoes instead of black because they soften the contrast between the shirt and pants. The pointed toe keeps them refined, while the low heel makes the outfit feel realistic for everyday life. - $3.49
An AH original to top things off
The woven handbag brings warmth and texture into the look. It relates to the brown shoes without matching them too perfectly—which, in my opinion, makes an outfit feel more collected and less calculated. It's also available for sale right here at AH.
Why It All Works
This outfit works because each piece has a role.
The shirt provides the interest. The pants create structure. The belt defines the shape. The shoes soften the black and white, and the Teresa Woven Tote adds warmth and texture.
Nothing is fighting for attention, but nothing feels like an afterthought either. It is simple, wearable, and polished—the kind of outfit that could work for the office, lunch, errands, or anywhere you want to look put together without looking overdone.
That is what I enjoy most about thrifting. It encourages you to see possibilities instead of complete outfits handed to you on a mannequin. You have to look at a shirt, a pair of pants, or an accessory and imagine what it could become.
AI helped me complete that process visually this time. The pieces were thrifted separately, but once I saw them styled together, the vision made sense.
